Western Family Picnic

Every year Mom Santini is in charge of the Western Family Picnic put on by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church hosts ambassadors to try to build relationships with them so that as the church sends out missionaries all over the world, the church has contacts and friendships in case they need to get missionaries out of the country or to try to get visas for new missionaries. It's a great program because ambassadors from all over the world get to gather together, meet and friendship senators, congressmen, and other influential members of the church. The connections are helpful to them as well as helpful for the church. Mom Santini has made lasting friendships and there is such a spirit of fun and warmth at these events.

Beautiful (but cold) day!

Living Legends from BYU came out to perform.

Faith was facinated

Her reaction to the dancers

BYU's Folk Dance team also came out to dance.

The visiting general authority from the church: Elder L. Tom Perry enjoying the show. We believe that Jesus Christ has called prophets and apostles as he did during the time He was on the earth. Elder Perry is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Little Miss was so tired missing her nap that she passed out in the middle of the performnce. Loud music and all!

Picture with Elder Perry and his wife

JD and I were so excited to take Faith on a pony ride. At first we thought that the ponies weren't there this year. We were relieved to find that they came out later in the afternoon.

There they go!

Happy trails!

  1. Love these pictures! I wish we could have been there! Looks like Faith had a wonderful time. So funny the way she has always stuck her tongue out. And just to clear the record....no self-respeting westerner would consider those pone rides. Those, my dear Montana girl, are cart rides. Pony rides involve a saddle (usually). Love the cupcake hat too!
